Diamond Valley Lake

Lake Skinner

Skinner Lake  Lake Skinner is located 70 miles northeast of San Diego at an elevation of 1,500 feet. Skinner contains 1,200 surface acres of water with 15 miles of shoreline. Skinner is open year round from 6 a.m. to sunset. Power boats are permitted with a minimum of 10 feet long; speed limit of 10 MPH strictly enforced. Swimming, tubing, or water-skiing is not allowed in the lake. Boat rentals are available from the marina for both fishing and pontoon boats. There are 260 campsites some with full hook-ups available accommodating both tent and RV's; reservations welcome. Skinner has a complete campground store that sells groceries, fuel, bait and tackle, drinks, and camping supplies. Skinner has been open for recreation since October 1976 providing excellent largemouth bass and catfish action. Lake Skinner 37701 Warren Road, Winchester, CA 92596 (909) 926-1541. Lake Hemet is located just outside of the town of Hemet at an elevation of 4,400 feet in the San Bernadino National Forest. Hemet contains 420 surface acres of water with 12 miles of shoreline. Boating is limited to fishing boats with a minimum 10 feet in length with a 10 MPH speed restriction (no canoes, kayaks, sailboats, or inflatables). Improved launch facilities available as well as boat rentals. Hemet Lake is a popular weekend getaway with several private and public camping facilities in the area accommodating both tents and RV's; full hookups available Trout and catfish are the primary attraction of this lake although Hemet holds a fair population of bluegill and bass as well. Elsinore Lake is located approximately 70 miles north of San Diego at an elevation of 1,275 feet. Elsinore is the largest freshwater lake in Southern California with over 3,300 surface acres. Elsinore has been described as one of the most unruly and unpredictable bodies of water in California with windy conditions and fluctuating water levels. There are several camping facilities located at the lake suitable for both tents and RV's with numerous electrical hookups available. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming in designated areas. Improved launching facilities, boat rentals, full service marina, and docking facilities are available. Lake Elsinore is one of Southern California's premier bass fishing lakes and also holds a good number of crappie, bluegill, and catfish. For more information contact Lake Elsinore at (909) 471-1212. Vail Lake is located approximately 75 miles north of San Diego at an elevation of 1,100 feet. Vail Lake is open year-round sunrise to sunset. Camping is available suitable for tents, trailers, or RV's with full service hookups. Private boats are permitted with a 10 mph speed limitation and water-skiing or swimming is not allowed. Concessions, bait, and tackle are available as well as boat rentals at the marina. Vail Lake is heavily stocked and is well noted by local fishermen as one of the Southland's premier trout and catfish lake. Vail also holds a good population of bass, crappie, and bluegill.
